These terms explain what bayn is, what we ask of members, and what we do not promise. They are written plainly on purpose. By joining, you agree to them, and to the community commitments.
Three sets of rules sit underneath these, for the things members actually do here: homes, stays and swaps, things and tickets, and help, work and services. What happens when something goes wrong is in reporting and moderation.
bayn is operated from Portugal by Rami Rmeileh and Bahaa Rizik. Write to us for our postal address. Reach us at contact@bayncom.io.
bayn is an invite only community where members share homes as sublets, rooms, swaps and hosted stays, help each other find places, pass things on, offer what they do for a living, and write about the cities they live in. bayn provides the place and the introduction.
Unless we say otherwise in so many words, bayn is not a party to anything members agree between themselves. We are not a landlord, a tenant, an estate agent, a travel agent, an accommodation provider, an employer, a recruiter, a healthcare provider, a professional firm, an insurer, a payment service or an escrow service.
A listing, a profile, a reference, a stay note or an invitation is not a guarantee by bayn of anybody's identity, character, qualifications, home, things or work.
bayn is for adults: you must be 18 or older to be a member. Members stay in one another’s homes, which is why. We ask you to confirm your age when you create your account. If we learn that someone is under 18 we will close the account and delete what we hold about them.
You join through a personal invitation or by applying to the waiting list, which we review personally. Applying does not guarantee a place. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and your password to yourself. One account per person.
Any arrangement to stay or swap is directly between the members involved. bayn is not a party to it. Agree the details, the money and the dates between yourselves, and meet the person and see the place before committing. We do not verify, vet or screen members, and we do not guarantee any listing, member or arrangement.
bayn is paid for by its members. Membership starts at €6 a month and you choose what to pay above that. What you choose changes nothing about what you can do here: there is one membership and one level of access, and a member paying the floor has exactly the rights of a member paying the ceiling.
Browsing, swiping and saving are free, signed in or not. Membership is what lets you publish a home and message members.
Membership renews monthly until you stop it. You can change what you pay or stop the next renewal from your account. If you cancel, it runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
If you subscribe through Apple, Google or another app store, that company handles the billing, the renewal and some refunds under its own terms, and you cancel through them rather than through us.
We may change the minimum in future, and will give members reasonable notice before it applies to them. Nothing here takes away a cancellation, withdrawal or refund right you have under consumer law where you live.
Nothing is charged today. Where a page shows a price, it says so on the page.
Bringing people in earns membership rather than money. When 3 people join on your invitation, that is 30 days free between them. The fourth and fifth are worth 14 days each, and all 5 joining inside one calendar month rounds the whole lot up to 60 days. Time is added when somebody actually joins, not when you send the invitation.
Free time and credits earned this way:
And invitations themselves:
We will withdraw credit where we reasonably believe there has been fraud, self-referral, duplicate accounts or other abuse, and we may take invitations away from an account altogether. We may change what invitations are worth, with reasonable notice — but credit already properly earned stays earned.
You can leave at any time from your account or by contacting us. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms or the community commitments, or that puts other members at risk.
We work to keep bayn running well, but we provide it as it is and cannot promise it will always be available or error free. To the extent the law allows, bayn is not responsible for arrangements made between members.
Write to contact@bayncom.io about anything. To report a member, a listing or a post, use the report form or report@bayncom.io. If we have acted against your account or your content and you think we were wrong, write to appeals@bayncom.io — how that works is set out in reporting and moderation.
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the Portuguese courts can hear a dispute about them. If you are a consumer living somewhere else, you keep every protection the law of your own country gives you that cannot be signed away, and you can bring a claim where you live. Nothing in this paragraph removes a right you cannot lawfully be asked to give up.
We may update these terms as bayn grows. If we make an important change, we will let members know. Questions? Use the contact page.
